Steve Mitchell has 35 years experience as a communications professional with major Canadian companies and as an outside consultant.
He served for seven years as Vice President Corporate Communications at Kinross Gold Corporation, the world’s fifth largest gold producer. At Kinross he led a team responsible for internal and external stakeholder communications, media relations, and reputation management in the seven countries where the company maintains operations. Prior to that, he was Director of Corporate Communications at Inco Limited, the world’s second largest nickel producer, where among other duties he was responsible for media relations and communications during one of the largest merger/acquisition transactions in Canadian history. He also held various communications positions at MacMillan Bloedel, one of British Columbia’s leading forest products companies prior to its takeover by Weyerhaeuser.
Steve studied at the University of British Columbia and the University of York (UK). He lives on Bowen Island, BC, just outside of Vancouver.
