Jeff Smith has more than 25 years of diverse global experience in the world of corporate communications, issues and stakeholder management, governance and government relations.
Jeff works with clients who want to understand and communicate more effectively with their stakeholder audiences; face sensitive or high profile business decisions such as a merger, sale, purchase, or restructuring; find themselves with a sensitive issue or crisis; or face business challenges dealing with regulation and government policy.
Jeff’s background in government and consultancy provides a unique and valuable perspective on all elements of communications and government relations. As a 17-year veteran of a large global public affairs and public relations agency, including two years as country manager of the firm’s operations in China, Jeff has provided counsel on high profile business issues such as acquisitions, bankruptcies and mission critical government relations. He has experience with sectors that range from mining, oil and gas and nuclear energy, finance, pharmaceuticals, transportation, technology, and fast moving consumer goods. As a senior advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment, Jeff advised on policy and legislation which shaped the business landscape of the country. As a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors’ and Rotman Business School’s directors’ education program, he also has a deep understanding of the issues and challenges faced by boards of directors.
