Hugh McFadyen is Principal of DFH Calgary and has more than 20 years of experience in politics and law. A respected western Canadian leader, Hugh spent more than six years as Leader of the Official Opposition in Manitoba before joining DFH in August 2012. Prior to entering politics, Hugh practiced law in London, UK and Winnipeg, specializing in financial transactions, corporate restructuring and commercial litigation. He also spent several years as Director of Policy and then Chief of Staff to the Premier of Manitoba.
Over his two decades in law and politics, Hugh has built extensive knowledge and contacts in law, public policy and opinion in key sectors such as energy, mining, natural resources, utilities and healthcare.
He has degrees in Arts and Law from the University of Manitoba and is an alumnus of the US State Department International Distinguished Visitor’s Program (IDVP). In 2012 Hugh was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his years of distinguished public service.
